Dear Professor,

You bring me the Washington Post’s summary of three studies that link long-term video game play with violent behavior. I have no access to the data used, the methods, etc.; I don’t even know how “violent behavior” is defined. You cannot tell me that “video games cause violence”- that is an irresponsible claim. At best, you can say that playing video games for over 3 hours a day CORRELATES with violent behavior.

More importantly, don’t you see how a home life that allows 3 or more hours of video game play a day might introduce confounding variables into the study?

Sometimes I just want to shoot myself and get it over with,

Methinks I need a bit more whimsy in my life. I’m tired of living in the “but what does it all really mean???” place all the goddamn time. I am sick of burning myself while attempting alchemy- some things are never going to become gold. Never.
